Microfilm copy of diaries kept by David W. Gilbert while in Company D, 24th Ohio Infantry from 1861-1862; and Company B, 2nd Ohio Heavy Artillery from 1863-1865 in western Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky. Includes description of life around Emerald, Adams County, Ohio, some of Gilbert's financial accounts, and addresses of comrades and acquaintances. Volume one also contains "Hope Rich and Co. in account with Edwin M. Gregory."
